This exercise explores how ruination process can change the way we understand methods for lighting comfort in architecture, proposing an experimental method of ruination for an existing geometry. It will act as a tool for finding new lighting conditions with a composition of elements in the urban context. The composition of elements acts as a unity and system. The original system shows inadequate lighting conditions because of the high density of elements and excessive amount of mass within its existing square footage area. Through this investigation we will show that geometrical alteration is a tool not only for form finding but for lighting comfort purposes during the design process. The use of light is an integral part that shapes our perception and affects our comfort, however architectural design methods for lighting are not always explore trough this techniques during the design process.
This proposal suggests that new lighting conditions in the existing system can be found in its geometrical configuration trough the process of ruination and code alteration. The new proposal responds as a better solution with the composition and shows how this method can help us improving our understanding of the relation between geometry, form and light during the design process.
